The wheel is a tool! Learn ways to use it when making elements for abstract sculpture. Previous wheel throwing experience is preferred but not required.
Meet Your Instructor
Audra Lynn Clayton
Audra Lynn Clayton has been a practicing potter and sculptor for over 20 years. While much of her career has been devoted to functional ceramics, she also works in abstract sculpture. Most of her work is wheel-thrown and fired in wood, soda, and gas kilns to capture the unique atmospheric effects these methods produce.
In addition to her studio practice, Audra served as the Studio Arts Manager at the Pittsburgh Center for Arts and Media and facilitated ceramics opportunities for others for 10 years. She was a resident at the New Harmony Clay Project, Stifel Fine Arts Center and Woodstock Byrdcliff. She recently presented at NCECA on supporting community arts projects. She exhibits her work regularly in Pittsburgh and across the country.
Audra lives in Pittsburgh’s Garfield neighborhood with her husband, JP.
